Further Funding for the Next Step Group
The Next Step Group has received further funding from Central Lakes Trust for our group costs in 2008. This is great news and means that the support group can continue. The Next Step currently has 14 members and is held weekly. Anyone is welcome to attend. See www.thenextstep.org.nz

Author Evening at SF is a Success
As part of Mental Health Awareness Week 2007, SF Central Otago invited Jocelyn Mcilraith, author of 'No-one Gives you Chocolates' - strategies and personal stories of recovery from depression, to give a talk. A large number of people turned up to this which demonstrated the importance of depression support in rural communities. SF is now planning a depression support group.

Cromwell Support Group Opens
SF Central Otago has opened a new activity and support group in Cromwell. This is held on Tuesdays from 11am to 3pm at the Catholic Church and is run jointly by Linda Laycock and Elaine McNoe who can be contacted on 03 448 9303 or groups@sfcentral.org.nz. New Support Group in Queenstown
The new "Next Step to Mental Wellbeing' group has started in Queenstown. This is an informal and friendly mental health support group held weekly on a Tuesday from 3:30pm. Contact Angie on 027 684 3245 or check out www.thenextstep.org.nz. Thanks to Central Lakes Trust and the Community Trust of Southland which have provided funding.
